Michael co-wrote this song with Paul Anka in 1983. It was originally called “I Never Heard”. When they were making the movie, someone, probably Sony, came across a tape with this song on it and thought that the words fit well with the tittle of the movie. They changed the title of the song to “This is It”, and history was made. Now lucky Paul Anka gets 50% of the proceeds. I saw this on “The View” a few weeks ago. I don’t really think that MJ had any intention of using it in his concerts.
